With reference to your letter of the Instant, and its Enclosure from the Acting Governor of Hongkong, recommending that the Government of that Colony should undertake the charge of the Clock Tower which has been recently erected in the City of Victoria, I am desired by the Lords Commissioners of her Majesty's Treasury to state, for the information of the Duke of Newcastle, that they concur in the propriety of sanctioning the arrangement by which the charge of the Clock Tower will be undertaken by the Local Government at the estimated Cost of £133.6.8 a year.
